In Development
Bedtime Stories is a contemporary circus, theatre, dance and puppetry show that promotes kaitiakitanga - both of our land and our communities. Set to specifically composed music by Paul Mclaney the show follows the troubles of two central characters as they try to fall asleep. Written in collaboration with child psychologist Dr. Anneke Thornton the characters read three different bedtime stories. Each story addresses a different anxiety that commonly arises in young families. The challenges faced by the characters in the stories are solved through using clinically proven and accessible resiliency tools such as mindfulness exercises that families can then take home with them.
It is the artistic aim of this project that audiences will leave feeling calm, and empowered with tangible techniques to help soothe anxieties and a reinforced connection to local whenua.
Bedtime Stories is created for children with sensory sensitivities.
